YMCA Featured on 13News Now for Summer Camp Readiness

We were proud to be featured on 13News Now as we prepare to welcome hundreds of children to summer camp across the Virginia Peninsula. In the segment, our very own Caitlyn Leavens, Associate Vice President of Child Care, shared how our teams are hard at work getting everything ready for an unforgettable summer.
As Caitlyn shares during her interview, camp at the Y is more than just child care—it’s a place where kids can grow, build confidence, and make lasting memories. From field trips and swimming to arts, games, and group activities, every day is designed to help children learn, thrive, and have fun in a safe, structured environment.
With camps kicking off the week of June 16, our staff were finalizing schedules, testing equipment, and preparing our spaces to ensure the best possible experience for campers. We’re grateful for the opportunity to share a behind-the-scenes look at the work that goes into creating a welcoming and enriching space for every child.
We’re excited for the season ahead and thankful to 13News Now for spotlighting the impact YMCA summer camps have on youth and families in our community. It’s shaping up to be a summer to remember—and we can’t wait to get started.
